High voltage power supply controller for Electrostatic precipitators

Gaseous exhausts from various industries pollute the environment with fly-ash generally filtered by electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) before being released to atmosphere. This paper presents development of a controller for ESP power supply. The maintains voltage applied at its maximum average value duty cycle control that results in an improvement dust collection-efficiency. limiting factor output is breakdown gas (spark/arc) electrode gap ESP. During spark/arc condition, limit imposed causes reduction leads prevention spark/arc. present design has response faster than line frequency supply controllers. circuit simpler, easy implement and uses standard PWM IC. stage flyback current-fed push-pull DC-DC converter multiple secondary circuits, which advantages instantaneous current less stress on rectifier-diodes. Simulation performed obtain 1 kV, 100 W 24VDC source. are compared experimental values validate controller’s ability achieve good load regulation during normal operation condition.
